The rooms (named after breeds of ducks and geese found on the river opposite) all have large double beds, Egyptian cotton bed linen, fluffy towels and are centrally heated (in the colder months). All rooms are ensuite with private WC and have a complementary refreshment tray (cafetiere with fresh coffee, fresh milk, selection of teas). Hairdryers are also provided.
The Toulouse Suite is a beautiful self-contained suite of rooms comprising a main bedroom with King Size bed, sofa and small table, a bathroom, separate WC and further twin bedroom. This suite is perfect for families.
The remaining three double ensuite rooms (Challans, Duclair and Rouen) are all equally well situated, two with views over the River Boutonne. All have large double beds and additional space for a further cot or fold out single bed if required.
For relaxation during the evening, guests have exclusive use of the large salon on the first floor. With its comfortable sofas, open fire and chandelier it is the perfect spot to browse through the books provided, select a game or jigsaw from the games basket or watch TV (French and UK channels). Guests also have their own kitchenette to prepare simple meals and use of a fridge freezer (especially useful for refreezing freezer blocks for picnics the following day).
Breakfast is served in the salon at tables with views to the Boutonne River. Breakfast consists of high quality, locally sourced ingredients (seasonal wherever possible). Local specialties are included on a regular basis (for example Surgeres butter and locally produced honey). Homemade conserves, bread, pastries, cereals, fresh fruit, homemade compote and yogurts are served alongside fresh orange juice and a choice of fresh coffee, a selection of teas or hot chocolate.
L’Etoile du Port provides a perfect base to explore the area, perhaps as a base to look for your own piece of France, for celebrations with friends or family or to visit one of the many local sporting, music or festival events through the year. Children and babies are very welcome, additional beds or cots can be placed in most rooms, and highchairs are also available.
Teas and coffee are provided throughout your stay and free Wi-Fi operates throughout the property. The house and its guest rooms are non-smoking. An ironing board and iron are free to use if needed.
